Our Donors

We are so grateful for the many donors that have partnered in our project. They are just as important as our teachers and students! We welcome one-time gifts as well as monthly or annual donors. Giving can be directed toward our general fund (rent, salaries, school lunch, educational supplies, etc.), sponsoring a graduate, or toward our new building fund.

I’m sometimes asked if we receive any government funding; the answer is no, we do not. In fact, we receive neither government nor corporate funding. We do receive some larger donations from non-profit organizations like:

but these entities are funded by individual givers who give knowing where their funds will be directed. At the end of the story, our work is entirely funded by individuals who care.

We asked some of our donors why they give to Asha Deep. Here’s what they said:

"I give to Asha Deep because they serve poor children." M. F., California

“I contribute to Asha Deep School because it is an unusual school that ministers to the whole child. The students come from a low socio-economic group, and their parents are employed in unskilled, temporary, and low-paying jobs with no benefits.Consequently, the school not only works to meet students' educational needs, but provides lunches, health information, counseling, and after-school activities to keep them out of trouble. Connie Ma'am, the principal, encourages students to continue their education after they graduate Asha Deep by advising them, monitoring their progress, findingtutors, and financially assisting them.

Asha Deep School would not win a prize for being the most up-to-date modern campus because it is operated very frugally. But it is a school where the children feel very comfortable and loved and where they get a good education that will help them, and consequently their families, get out of poverty.” D. S., California

“We donate to Asha Deep because we clearly see the positive impact this school has on the beautiful students – they are learning so much more than basic academics and we know this will in turn create significant impact in their future careers.” S. & D., California

“We donate to the school because we completely believe in the work that you are doing. Not only do you impact your students’ lives, but their families and their whole community,It's exciting to see how the school has grown over the years. We're so grateful for the opportunity to support such an important work.” T & B, California

I donate to Asha Deep to give back to a community that taught me so much in the years that I spent living and working in Varanasi. I first encountered Asha Deep in 2015, and was immediately struck by the passionate commitment of the staff and the quality of the education that the students are being offered. Over the years, I have seen Asha Deep staff go above and beyond in providing a holistic education and environment that supports and nurtures their student population's specific academic and emotional needs. They study hard, but also make time to play and be creative as a school community. I donate because I trust the school administration and staff completely, and trust that every dollar will support the best possible education for their students, creating a brighter future for them and their community. C.S., Iowa

I donate to Asha Deep because I have personally visited and been touched by the students and their dedication to learning, and because I love to be able to help them have the opportunity to learn! P.C., New York

I donate because I believe in the community that is being nurtured at Asha Deep. While teaching as a volunteer, I have personally seen and experienced the awe-inspiring world that the teachers have created there, filled with positivity and hope for our children, and I believe that’s all children really need to fulfill their potential, a little bit of hope. P. A., Mumbai
