Our Achievements & Aims
In 2004, Asha Deep Vidyashram had 15-20 students, one teacher, about five books, some slates and chalk, and one rented room. We now have our own building with 19 digitally connected classrooms, two computer labs, a science lab, and a 3000 book library. More importantly, we now have fourteen teachers and about 140 students who have pulled together into a caring community of people eager to teach, learn, and help each other. Our commitment to quality education has brought real hope for our students’ future.
Since our opening, accomplishments include:
- Purchasing land and constructing our own school building.
- Receiving accreditation from the Uttar Pradesh Board of Education (State Board).
- Providing a nutritious lunch and longer school day for the children in grades 2-8
- Creating two computer labs and including computer education in grades 2 and up
- Bringing technology (wifi, a laptop, digital camera, and projector) into each classroom
- Establishing an arts program including crafts, drawing, music, tabla, and dance
- Building a 3000+ book library
- Having well-stocked teacher's rooms with plenty of educational resources and art materials
- Staging an exciting public performance each Spring for 19 years
- 108 students have passed 8th grade at Asha Deep
- 86 of our graduates have passed 10th grade; 57 of our graduates have passed 12th grade. (23 of our students are currently working toward passing 12th class.)
- 13 now have bachelor's degrees (with another 24 in progress), and 4 have gotten a master’s degree.
Due to our move, in 2023, to a new location, we have had to take a step back and re-build our student base. Whereas we have had 250 students in earlier years, we now have closer to 150. With time, we will again build up our enrollment. Our next big project will be the construction of a community center with a large meeting hall and other rooms for adult education,.
